US mountains I have hiked

After having completed all 50 states in 1999, I could start focusing on hiking during my occasional visits. No particular advanced climbs yet, some great views! If I get the opportunity, Mt. Whitney and Mt. Shasta are the primary goals. I would also like to try to do some of the more challenging 14,000 ft. mountains in Colorado.

Mt. Elbert 4399m Jul 2001		Rocky Mountains, Sawatch Range, CO Highest in Colorado. A long, but easy hike with no difficulties. Leadville is the closest city.
Blanca Peak 4372m Aug 2002		Rocky Mountains, Sangre de Cristo, CO 4th highest in Colorado and the majesty of the southern Sangres in Colorado state. Despite complex ridges and massive vertical drops, the peak can easily be climbed from lake Como.
La Plata Peak 4370m Jul 2000		Rocky Mountains, Sawatch Range, CO 5th highest in Colorado, and a great looking peak with a strenuous trail. Leadville is the closest city.
Mt. Lincoln 4354m Jul 2001		Rocky Mountains, Mosquito Range, CO Located in the Bross-Lincoln-Democrat triangle. Easy hike while a nice view is obscured by jeeps going all the way up the mountain.
Mt. Yale 4327m Jul 2001		Rocky Mountains, Sawatch Range, CO A steep and dominating mountain in the Collegiate Peaks, close to Mt. Princeton and the town of Buena Vista.
Mt. Bross 4320m Jul 2001		Rocky Mountains, Mosquito Range, CO Located in the Bross-Lincoln-Democrat triangle. Easy hike while a nice view is obscured by jeeps going all the way up the mountain.
Ellingwood Point 4280m Aug 2002		Rocky Mountains, Sangre de Cristo, CO A sharp peak on the Blanca ridge, easily accessible from lake Como. There has been discussions on the rank of this peak, but Ellingwood Point is now safely to be considered a fourteener.
Mt. Lindsey 4280m Aug 2002		Rocky Mountains, Sangre de Cristo, CO A pyramid-shaped peak east of Blanca with an interesting class 3 scramble up the NW ridge crest. Great views towards Blanca, Ellingwood, Little Bear and California Peak.
Mt. Sherman 4278m Jul 2001		Rocky Mountains, Mosquite Range, CO Easy hike just outside the city of Leadville. A close neighbour to Mt. Sheridan.
California Peak 4221m Aug 2002		Rocky Mountains, Sangre de Cristo, CO Steep hike from Huerfano valley. Great views towards Crestones, the Sand Dunes and Blanca Peak
Huerfano Peak 4215m Aug 2002		Rocky Mountains, Sangre de Cristo, CO Easy thirteener that is normally hiked together with Mt. Lindsey. A hike to Huerfano Peak normally also includes a visit to Iron Nipple, a landmark from the Huerfano valley
Mt. Sheridan 4190m Jul 2001		Rocky Mountains, Mosquito Range, CO Easy hike just outside the city of Leadville. A close neighbour to Mt. Sherman.
Unnamed 13736 4187m Jul 2001		Rocky Mountains, Sawatch Range, CO Unnamed high point on the Mt. Champion ridge. Interesting walk on a narrow ridge. Near Independence Pass.
Twining Peak 4179m Jul 2001		Rocky Mountains, Sawatch Range, CO A peak with great views, easily done from Independence Pass. The summit has a short narrow ridge with loose rocks.
Mt. Audubon 4030m Jul 2001		Rocky Mountains, Indian Peaks, CO An easy hike on a large round massive in sharp contrast to the wild and rugged peaks in the Indian Peaks region.
Pawnee Peak 3945m Jul 2001		Rocky Mountains, Indian Peaks, CO An easy hike in the wild Indian Peaks landscape. Follow the Pawnee Pass trail from Brainard Lake.
St. Vrain Mtn. 3707m Jul 2001		Rocky Mountains, Indian Peaks, CO An easy hike north in the Indian Peaks. Great views towards the mountains around Brainard Lake.
Meadow Mtn. 3545m Jul 2001		Rocky Mountains, Indian Peaks, CO An round and easy hill you stop by on the way to St. Vrain Mountain.
Lassen Peak 3187m Jul 2000		Lassen Natl. Park, CA One of the most visited peaks in western US. Easy trail all the way to the top.
Slide Mountain 2954m Dec 2000		Sierra Nevada, NV An easily accessible mountain between Lake Tahoe and Reno. Mt. Rose nearby is the more prominent peak in the region.
Brokeoff Mountain 2815m Jul 2000		Lassen Natl. Park, CA Another beautiful peak in the Lassen National Park, with great views towards Lassen Peak.
Bear Peak 2579m Aug 2002		Rocky Mountains, Boulder CO A dominating mountain when seen from Boulder, but has only a soft rank towards its neighbour - South Boulder Peak. Nevertheless, Bear Peak is one of the most popular peaks in the Boulder region.
Mt. Mitchell 2037m Apr 2002		Black Mountains, NC Highest mountain in eastern U.S. One can drive all the way to the top, if none of the summit trails are appealing.
Mt. Craig 2026m Apr 2002		Black Mountains, NC 2nd highest mountain (arguable) in eastern U.S. Located near Mt. Mitchell.
Clingmans Dome 2025m Apr 2002		Smoky Mountains, TN 3rd highest (some claim 2nd) mountain in eastern US. The Appalachian Trail runs by this mountain.
Balsam Cone 2010m Apr 2002		Black Mountains, NC Ranked peak on the same ridge as Mt. Mitchell and Mt. Craig.
Mt. Le Conte 2010m Apr 2002		Smoky Mountains, TN 2nd highest mountain in Tennessee and 6th highest mountain in eastern US. Closest town is Gatlinburg.
Cattail Peak 2007m Apr 2002		Black Mountains, NC Unranked peak on the same ridge as Mt. Mitchell and Mt. Craig.
Big Tom 2006m Apr 2002		Black Mountains, NC Unranked and insignifcant spur on Mt. Craig. Appears however on U.S lists of high eastern peaks.
Mt. Collins 1886m Apr 2002		Smoky Mountains, TN Insignificant hill on the Appalachian Trail nearby Clingmans Dome.
San Benito Mtn. 1597m Jul 2000		Diablo Range, CA Highest point in San Benito County. Far, far away from civilization, and probably seldom visited.
Copernicus Peak 1329m+ Jul 2000		Diablo Range, CA Highest point in Santa Clara County and the highest point on Mt. Hamilton, located just outside San Jose. The well-known Lick Observatory (picture) is also located on Mt. Hamilton
Mt. St. Helena 1320m Jul 2000		Napa, CA A nice peak with great views all around. A triple county boundary (Lake, Sonoma, Napa) just east of the main summit marks the high point (4200+ feet) of Napa County.
Mt. Diablo 1172m Nov 1999		Diablo Range, CA Mt. Diablo is the high point of Contra Costa county, located close to the Bay County region. The viewshed is enormous. Some claim only Kilimanjaro takes in a greater view.
Rose Peak 1163m Mar 2000		Diablo Range, CA Rose Peak is the practical high point of Alameda County, as the true high point (just a few feet higher) lies on private property and is not accessible for public. Rose Peak lies central in the Ohlone Wilderness (picture) and can be hiked from Sunol Wilderness or Del Valle.
Loma Prieta 1160m		Diablo Range, CA Loma Prieta lies on the San Andreas fault line between San Jose and Santa Cruz. The summit has restricted access.
Mt. Diablo North Peak 1084m		Diablo Range, CA North Peak is a ranked summit just north of Mt. Diablo. Easy walk all the way to the top.
Schlieper Rock 929m		Diablo Range, CA Schlieper Rock is an unranked point on the trail from Del Valle to Sunol.
Mt. Allison 810m		Diablo Range, CA Mt. Allison is one of three high points on the Mission Peak Regional Preserve, north of San Jose
Mt. Tamalpais 784m		Marin County, CA Mt. Tamalpais is a frequently hiked mountain with numerous trails to the summit. Located just north of San Francisco.
Mission Peak 767m		Diablo Range, CA Mission Peak is one of three high points on the Mission Peak Regional Preserve, north of San Jose
Rocky Ridge 739m		Diablo Range, CA Rocky Ridge is a ranked point on the trail from Del Valle to Sunol.
Eagle Peak 722m		Diablo Range, CA Eagle Peak is an unranked peak on the Mt. Diablo massif.
Rock Two 617m		East Bay Hills, CA Rock Two is a ranked summit on the Las Trampas ridge, just east of Oakland
Timms Hill 595m Apr 2002		Wisconsin Timms Hill is not a mountain, but the highest point in the state of Wisconsin. Only interesting for high point collectors.
Las Trampas Peak 557m		East Bay Hills, CA Las Trampas Peak is a ranked summit on the Las Trampas ridge, just east of Oakland
