Nausane (448m) and Søreggja (400m) from Sandvikeidet, Jan 29 2012 |
To the main Tarvaldsegga & Nausane page (maps, pictures, other trip reports) My route, as seen in Google Earth
After having visited Berstadhornet earlier in the day, I had time for one more hike and chose to drive to Sandvikeidet on Stadlandet to visit Nausane. I also visited Sandvikeidet in March 2009, when I hiked Tarvaldsegga (645m) - the highest mountain top on the Stadlandet peninsula. I remembered that the path to Tarvaldsegga was marked and well worn. I expected the same to be true for Nausane, and I did indeed find a signpost and a path. Perhaps not as worn as the path to Tarvaldsegga, but I had no problems following it upwards. I left Sandvikeidet 1:20pm and reached the top 2pm sharp. I met a woman who was ready to leave and we had a short talk before she continued down on a different route. I took a couple of minutes to enjoy the great view in the direction of Vanylven...
View from Nausane
On my way back to Sandvikeidet, I chose to take a detour up to Søreggja. I got no clear impression of where the highest point was, and made sure to visit every hump on the plateau. From here, I chose a steep descent route down to Kopevatnet, which I crossed (on ice) upon returning to the car (2:35pm). On Kopevatnet - literally
Yet another nice day in the Selje mountains was coming to an end, but I had one more thing to look forward to - Syvdsalpane in sunshine!
