Slavkovský štít

Introduction
The Vysoké Tatry
(High Tatras) mountain range has numerous rugged and wild peaks, most of them
above 2000 meters. But only a handful can be hiked without a certified
mountain guide. The most popular ones are Rysy, Lomnický štít
(gondola), Kôprovský štít, Kriván, Východná Vysoká,
Jahnaci and Slavkovský štít.
Slavkovský štít is a good
candidate for the "easiest Tatra peak" category. You can hike or take
the train from Starý Smokovec (1020m) up to Hrebienok (1285m). From
here, you have approx. 1170 vertical meters ahead of you - along a well
marked trail - until you can set your foot on top of this peak. The view
from the summit is phenomenal. When free of fog, that is...
Important:
The marked trails in the High Tatras are closed from 1st of
November to the 15th of June!
