This autumn, mom was on a visit and wanted to see more of the Sunnmøre nature. Unfortunately, I was completely low on energy and couldn't stand the thought of hiking "real mountains". Mojo gone. But as she had brought her own car, we had a good opportunity to do a roundtrip hike across Storehornet and Nupen - instead of walking the same route back from Nupen. We left one car at Ytre Halle and drove the other up to Drageskaret, from where we headed out 2:35pm. The weather was a bit gloomy, but it didn't rain (as the weather forecast said it would). The walk up to Storehornet only took 25 minutes, and we enjoyed the views for a while before we moved on.
![]() I had been worried that there would be no path to Nupen, but there was no reason for concern. The path was not as well-worn as the one to Storehornet, but more than good enough. Walking along the Gursken fjord is always nice. I've done this a few times, but only along Saursegga - on the other side of the fjord. We reached the top of Nupen 3:40pm - approx. 1 hour after leaving Drageskaret. After signing the visitor's register, we followed a vague path in the direction of Ytre Halle. We lost track of this path at 180m and continued off-trail straight down the forest. I liked the forest. If I had grown up here, I would probably never have had a dull moment outdoors.
![]() Eventually, we reached civilization (in someone's back yard), and the car was only 350m away. 4:23pm the round trip hike was over. The next day, we did a superb hike from Kvitneset to Flø.
