This weekend, a friend of mine (Anna) from the great abroad was visiting Sunnmøre. Anna has a big passion for Norwegian nature, and Flø on Hareidlandet in particular. For Saturday morning, I proposed a round trip across Roppehornet, Trollvassegga, Koppen and Ulsteinhetta. I had only been to Roppehornet and Koppen before, so I would be visiting a couple of new spots too.

The weather wasn't great, but good enough. The air was certainly fresh. It had been raining for days, and after the recent snowfall, creeks had turned into small rivers. We headed out from Gåsneset and followed a well worn path up to Roppehornet. The walk up took exactly one hour. A huge eagle left the summit when we arrived, and didn't have the will to return.

We continued on a path across Trollvassegga and then crossed (off-trail) over to Koppen near Kjellstjørna. Almost one month had passed since I left a small marker on the (assumed) high point on Koppen. We then continued towards Ulsteinhetta. I talked Anna into performing a small glissade. Her last encounter with Norwegian snow (in Molladalen) was quite "epic", and we concluded that some more hands-on practice was probably useful...

We were quite wet when we passed the top of Ulsteinhetta. The terrain between Koppen and Ulsteinhetta was a bit aggravating (turfs and bog), but we eventually stumbled across a path. From Ulsteinhetta, we descended in slightly steep terrain and found a vague path that led us down to the path to Gåsneset. The whole trip was 8km, the vertical gain was 500m and the hike took 2h:50m. It was a nice trip indeed, and Anna seemed very pleased about revisiting the Flø region.
