Introduction

Rasletinden is known as one of the easiest skiing tops amongst the 2000 meter peaks in Jotunheimen. Every year - hundreds (if not thousands) ski or hike this top, which belongs to the eastern Jotunheimen mountain range and is one of the southernmost of the 2000m peaks.

Rasletinden, together with Munken, Mugna, Leirungskampen and the Kalvehøgde tops are the 2000m peaks on the ridge north of Lake Bygdin and south of Leirungsdalen valley. If you have an optimistic view towards the definition of a peak, you can return with 8-9 2000m tops after exploring this ridge. If you go after the 100m primary factor definition, only two peaks satisfy the criterion; Vestre Kalvehøgde and Rasletinden.

Øystre (Austre) Rasletinden is a hump located 1,2km east of Rasletinden. This peak belongs to 3 municipalities; Øystre Slidre, Vang and Vågå. The main Rasletinden is shared between Vang and Vågå. The Jotunheimen National Park border runs across both summits.

The starting point is Valdreflya (closed in winter). There are two normal routes; a) via Steindalen and b) via the east/northeast ridge. Both routes are easy and many choose a round trip. This page describes the route via Steindalen.
