Introduction

Kvitenuten is located on the north side of Røldalsfjellet. The ascent route from the old road across Røldalsfjellet isn't difficult, but requires some route finding. Once on the mountain - if you continue northeast, there's nothing stopping you before you're on Hardangervidda.

The ascent up the mountain is overall rugged, and is "best suited" for hikers who are used to this type of terrain, and especially if the fog comes creeping along...

At first glance, there are steep cliffs everywhere. But there is a ledge (170 meters above you) heading northwest that will grant you easy access to the upper part of the mountain. Above this ledge, you will have to negotiate a number of smaller ledges (terraces) before the terrain levels out above 1400 meters. The general direction from the trailhead is northwest. The summit (N59.85932 E6.73768) is marked by a small cairn.
