Norwegian Mountains, Møre og RomsdalKongsvollen (683m) from Løsetvatnet, Dec 24 2009To the main Kongsvollen page (maps, route descriptions, other trip reports, etc.)
A hike on Christmas Eve has now become a tradition. This year, I chose Kongsvollen as the target - hoping there would be enough snow on the north ridge to make the walk a bit "exciting". But even if there turned out to be hardly any snow at all, it would still be a most excellent walk. It was a bit cold (-8 deg. C. at the trailhead) and some wind, but the sun was out and painted the whole mountain side facing the fjord, in red. The walk up took 1,5 hours, and I passed a cadaver (a young eagle, perhaps?) along the way. This was interesting. Except for humans, eagles don't have many natural enemies. Once on top, I was tempted to hike down to Laupen, but in the end I chose not to. Instead, I spent some quality time trying to look like stupid on pictures.
After pictures, it was time to head home and start thinking about Christmas dinner. It's the same ol', same ol' - pizza and beer, but this year with extra cheese on top. Yum.. can hardly wait.. I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year!! |
The pictures were taken with a Canon EOS 450D + Canon EF-S 17-85mm IS USM F 4-5.6
