Introduction

Huldrehornet (Wiki:No) is a low forest hill, located near Dragsundet which divides Gurskøya and Hareidlandet islands. One can regard Huldrehornet as Rjåhornet's big toe.

A nice (mostly dry) path runs from Lake Djupvikvatnet and up the northeast ridge. From the top, you can descend a bit to the south and connect to another path between Rjåhornet and Djupvikvatnet, allowing you to extend the hike or make a round-trip hike.

Primary factor:

Huldrehornet (Norge 1:50,000: 271m, Ø.K.: 271,27m, UTM 32 V 332725 6908584) has a primary factor of 113m towards the higher parent Rjåhornet (600m). The defining saddle is found between the two tops. Ref.  Økonomisk Kartverk (5m contours), the saddle is within the range 155-160m, interpolated to 158m.

Access

(all distances are approx. distances)

The nearest larger city is Ålesund. From Ålesund, follow highway E39 towards Bergen, and then RV61 towards Hareid. Take the Sulesund - Hareid ferry.

Entering Hareid, you pass through a roundabout. Follow RV61 and drive 16,8Km (you pass Ulsteinvik along the way). In the RV654/RV61 junction, do NOT turn left towards Måløy/Fosnavåg. Instead, drive 500m westbound on RV654. Then turn left onto an unsigned road (there is another fork 30m ahead on RV654 - just for reference).

Drive 500m along lake Djupvikvatnet, locate the forest path and find parking alongside the road. There is a a better parking opportunity shortly before you arrive at the trailhead.

The route

The forest path is quite visible. Small forks lead back to the same path. At approx. 110m (elev.) you pass what resembles a training area for scouts (?). Might be a school project too. Above the forest, the path gets less visible, but you should still be able to follow it. Just maintain the general direction (W->SW) and you'll head straight towards the top of Huldrehornet.

Descend your ascent route, or descend off-trail to the south and follow a path between Djupvikvatnet and Rjåhornet (I have not walked this route). According to the map, you'll join the road along Djupvikvatnet just 250m south of where you parked.
