Introduction

Gulberget is a coastal plateau located just east of Bud. The plateau has 6 points / tops, connected by paths - where you might find visitor registers. This page will describe the normal route from the cemetery just outside Bud. The distance is 1km top the top, takes approx. 30 minutes and the vertical gain is approx. 150 meters. This is a popular route. Note that there is a steep section just before the summit. Fixed chains will help you get safely up and down here.

From the summit, you have a good view towards other Fræna tops such as Sjurvarden, Melen, Raudtua, Skalten and Jendemsfjellet - to name some.

(all distances are approx. distances)

This route description starts at the place Bud in Fræna. You get there by following RV64 from Molde to Malmefjorden and then RV664 to Bud via Elnesvågen.

Just outside Bud (approx. 1,5km to the east) you find a cemetery. The route to Gulberget begins here. There is also public parking here.

Cross the main road and follow a service road 550 meters up to a building. You will see a gate and the mountain path begins here. Follow the path 450 meters up to the high point. There is a steep and short section (protected with fixed chains) just before the summit. Those with little tolerance for heights will probably be quite OK here. The summit is marked by an antenna.

Upon descent, consider visiting a lower top 300 meters to the northeast. From here, follow a visible path down the ridge and join the service road just before the main road.
