I shouldn't have gone on this trip..
but when Svein called me on the phone, I couldn't say no. I was in desperate need to get well after battling a nasty virus all through April, and I had promised myself a week of rest. Based on the "tomorrow I'll stop drinking" concept, I would treat myself with this ski-trip, and then .. a proper rest. Åsmund and his dog Ronja was coming along too. I called my friend Hildegunn, who lives below the mountain, and told her we were coming. She's busy with the farm, of course, but Kvitegga is her local mountain. So when city folks announced their presence, I had a feeling she would come along too. She did .. and now we were 4 skiers and two dogs. Balder - Hildegunn's dog - was an old (and pleasant) acquaintance from the ski-trip to Ådalstinden. We left Langhaugen 09:50AM and kept a moderate pace up the forest. The weather was good and it was a hot day. The light wasn't always top notch, and some precipitation could be expected. As expected, the snow was somewhat rotten down in the forest, but it turned quite firm remarkably quick. Ronja had boundless energy, and Balder constantly thought he could get some. It was quite a sight. Balder was a true gentledog and .. gently .. kept poking Ronja's behind with his paw, for some attention. He got none, except her grin. I took a series of pictures of Åsmund and Ronja. For the most part, Ronja was in the air... Svein wanted to .. visit Nakkeskreda, and so we did. It wasn't a long detour, and we got some additional valley views. 12:07PM, we reached the top of Kvitegga. It was quite a nice viewpoint. True, Geitebottinden and Seljebottinden stole some of the views, but plenty of the Sunnmørsalpane peaks could be seen. Slogen, Brekketindane, Leirvasshornet, to name a few. The ridge towards Geitebottinden looked interesting, but it wasn't on the agenda for the day. So we turned around and prepared for some delightful skiing. As we descended, the light turned flat and cheated us out of a first class descent. But soon, some rays of sun came through and made the rest of the descent quite enjoyable. Back at Langhaugen, a Llama stood parked (!). Hildegunn invited us in for coffee and ice cream (yum..). But now a week of enforced rest was awaiting. Bu-hu...
