Back to the main Frostadtinden/Høgsalen page.
Høgsalen was the only top west of E39 (Ålesund - Vestnes) that I hadn't been to. With a primary factor of 79m, Høgsalen hadn't been on my priority list, but now the time had come. It was a grey afternoon, but the weather seemed to hold up and I didn't expect rain. The plan was to hike out of Høgsætra. It would be a short walk up to Høgsalen. If weather permitted, I could include Frostadtinden on the hike.
As I headed out from Høgsætra 16:53PM, I wasn't aware of the tractor road to the Høgsalen - Frostadtinden saddle. With my dog Troll in the backpack, I headed off-trail up to Høgsalen and reached the summit cairn 17:16PM. After a quick round of pictures, I moved on, still carrying Troll.
At the saddle, I noticed the path/tractor road coming up from Høgsætra and decided to descend this route. But first, Frostadtinden would be visited. The good path allowed Troll to ascend Frostadtinden on his own. Poor fellow, he gave "everything" up the hill, and vomited big time on top of Vardtua. The first puke was "normal". The second gave him "cramps" from nose to rear. I carried him the remaining distance to the top. We reached the cairn 18:25PM, and I decided to skip the high point this time. Been there, done that.
Troll was clearly not dying, as he walked all the way from Frostadtinden and back to Høgsætra. 19:16PM, the hike was over.
