The first part of the Easter holiday 2011 was spent on Valdresflya with Bessheim Fjellstue as base-camp. Anne and me left Sunnmøre on Monday morning and arrived at Bessheim around 2pm. We traded miserable weather west of Strynefjellstunnelen for sunshine on the east side. Just like we had planned and hoped for. After some negotiations with the reception crew, we got a cabin all to ourselves. It hadn't been warmed up, so we turned the heater on and went to Valdresflya for an afternoon ski-trip.

We just wanted to get a little exercise before dinner, and looked around for a place to ski. Because of serious lack of snow, there didn't seem to be many options. We chose the easiest target - Fisketjernnuten, and were on our way 3:05pm.

I was using my wax-free skis for the first time this year. It was nice to not worry about wax and skins for a change. Anne had some problems with the wax and had to ascend the steepest section (which wasn't really steep...) on foot. It would have been impossible to do a longer ski-trip this late in the afternoon. The snow was soaking wet and definitely not carrying our weight...

The amount of people still left on Valdresflya gave us a clue about how many there must have been earlier in the day. A crazy number, surely. Valdresflya was one of the few places in southern Norway where you still could ski directly from the car.

It was nice to see the 2000m peaks again. I haven't paid them much attention after moving to Sunnmøre, but when Anne and me agreed to do Rasletinden (2105m) the next day, I felt an urge to spend more time in the Jotunheimen region.

We reached the top of Fisketjernnuten 3:50pm and were joined by a hiker that came up from the northwest.  After a short stay on top, we returned to the trailhead (4:25pm) and found that there was sufficient time to hike S. Brurskardknappen (1458m) before dinner.
