Tingvoll
municipality is located in the Nordmøre region, and comprise the
Tingvollhalvøya peninsula and Askøya island. Tingvoll borders to Aure, Halsa,
Kristiansund, Gjemnes and Surnadal in the fjords, but only to
Sunndal on the mainland. Tingvoll is almost surrounded by
fjords, but connects to the city Kristiansund through a
tunnel. The village of Tingvoll is the administrative
centre.
Tingvoll is
not a prominent mountain region. The highest tops (only two
exceeding 1000m elevation) is found on the Tingvoll/Sunndal
border.
