Another beautiful winter's day in Bergen. Troll was completely "mad" and couldn't walk fast enough. There was obviously some sort of "nice smell" on the trail. Once up, he didn't want to go down (for the first time, ever) so we had to extend the hike a bit. We had hiked up Langrinden and descended Korketrekkeren. Along the way, we ran into Lars & Kim, who recognized the combination of a dachshund and a guy with a camera, after visiting hordafjell.com. We chatted until Troll made it clear that he wanted to move on. A perfect day, really; Sunshine on the mountain, no winds, snow, a broken trail, a happy dog and lots of people on the mountain. As the plan was to move to Ålesund the following day, this might have been my last hike to Ulriken, for now.

After a totally amazing birthday party, I needed to wake up properly. I couldn't think of a better way than visiting Mt. Ulriken while snow from the north fell on the city. The wind usually comes from the southwest, and I didn't become aware of the northern wind until I noticed that the cornices on the trail were different. When the wind comes from the north, large parts of the trail are free of snow, regarding the snowdepth elsewhere. A wind from the southwest creates large cornices to build up, in addition to the snow on the trail. It was a beautiful hike.

This was a cold and starry night. I brough my new lens - Sigma 18-200mm - which I expected would outperform the default Canon 18-55mm lens.

Full moon and an excellent evening. Met Per Fotland on Ulriken, bringing a tripod.
Good to see that people are finding their way up after dark. On my way down, I stopped in
the upper stairs for a last picture. When I was done, the dog was nowhere to be seen.
I searched high and low. Finally, I went back to the restaurant and found him in the
cable car building, seeking shelter from the cold wind! This little fellow is about
ready for his retirement..

The snow came to Bergen Nov 15, 2 days earlier than 2004. It's probably gonna rain away, though.
For the first time, I turned around on the way to Ulriken. I drove up to Sollien and drove immediately
down. Absolutely no control with summer tires on the slippery road.
