After having spent the night at Bryggen hotel in Nordfjordeid, we headed up to the Harpefossen ski-resort the next day. We had some hours to kill before attending the 40-year celebration of a friend later in the evening.

The weather was not good at all; rain showers at sea level and snow showers higher up. I really wanted to tick off my first new top in 2012, but there were no easy ones around. And I did feel a bit reluctant to take on a 800m+ ascent in deep and wet snow, with very low visibility.

So, the next best thing would be to go to Harpefossen, take the lift up and do the final 200 vertical meters up to Storegga off-trail. At least Anne would get a new top. And then we could spend the day in the slopes. The more I thought of it, the better this plan seemed...

We bought a 3-hour pass and took the J-bar lift up to Steinane at 777 meters. The visibility was close to zero as we headed up towards Storegga, but we had full control through the GPS. After 25 minutes, we reached the top and could celebrate Anne's first new top in 2012. After a short stay, we headed back down to Steinane and had some good runs down Botnaløypa and Kristianløypa. Due to technical problems, the slopes were not prepared, but off piste all around was quite OK with us...

We also took the trip to over to the Furuhogane slopes and joined the Kjendalsheisen (T-bar) lift up to 815 meters  before returning to the main slope.  After a couple of hours, the snow was so wet and visibility so low that the quality of skiing was significantly reduced. So when our skiing passes expired, we decided to call it a day and sat course towards our friends at Lotsberg - looking forward to a good reunion with friends, a nice and warm shower and a fun party!
