Ever since I saw Skriki in full on the January 2010 ski-trip to Storehaugfjellet (ref. above picture), I kept thinking about visiting this huge (relatively speaking) mountain near Sogndal. And on this nice weekend in June, Anne and me decided to take the trip.
The plan was originally just a regular ascent from Øvstedalen, but then Anne introduced the option to descend to Nornes. I liked the idea, and the taxi concept had already been proven to work on the trip across Vetanosi....
We headed out from Øvstedalen 10:48am, followed the forest path up to the Kinn cabins, and then up and above the forest until we lost sight of the path. We followed the terrain where it seemed logical and found it again by the mailbox near Skriksvatnet.

While the ascent was uneventful, the views got increasingly better. And the green-ish Sognefjord is always a sight for sore eyes...

We reached Skriki summit 12:52pm - close to 2 hours after leaving the Øvstedalen trailhead. The ascent was easy and I looked forward to descend in a different direction. And perhaps add some "flavour" to the hike...

I really, really like mountains which has odd names. "Blåfjellet", "Gråfjellet", "Kvitfjellet" are boring beyond comprehension, but Skriki (whatever it means - skrik = scream) has certainly a certain schwung to it. The cool name probably inspired me to actively pursuing "flavours" to the hike..

We sat course for Breidesete, but didn't locate the path before passing the Guddalen ruins. We followed the path towards Breidesete, then the path towards Klanten, before descending to Nornes. We reached highway RV55 3:55pm - close to 5 hours after heading out. We called Sogndal Taxi, and 15-20 minutes later, a taxi appeared. The taxi driver wondered why didn't walk back to Øvstedalen, but chose not to hold it against us...
