Kjerringa and Trongegylet
Today, I wanted to take Anne to the top of Kjerringa - an ultra-cool pinnacle/rock feature high above Flø. I hadn't been up here since June 2009, when I had a most interesting round trip hike with Erling Flø. The only visual traces of the violent hurricane "Dagmar" was a lot of rubbish here and there, and we could see that the waves had almost reached the road in places. Which - according to a local - was "something completely new". The sea and the winds had calmed down, but still the sea was a magnificent sight...
Waves at Flø
We headed up Trongegjølet (not 100% about the pronunciation) and scrambled up to the pinnacle. As expected, Anne found this to be a very enjoyable place. Not only was there a ridiculously sharp and airy rock that she had to sit on, but there was also a cave with all sorts of interesting things inside...
On top of Kjerringa
Afterwards, we continued up to the plateau (Djupmyrane), and enjoyed fantastic colors in the sky and a superb view.
Great view from Djupmyrane
We headed down directly into Ytreflødalen. If it hadn't been for social engagements later in the afternoon, it would have been very tempting to do a round trip across Smørkinna, Sneldelida, Signalhornet and Skolma. But that will have to wait until another day.
Descending into Ytreflødalen
This round trip hike was 6,8km, 400 vertical meters and took us 2,5 hours - including fun time on Kjerringa... |
