Norwegian Mountains, Møre og RomsdalUtvikfjellet, Apr 18 2006This route is described as route #3 on the Rødlandstua main page. On this mixed weather day, I lacked the inspiration to a) visit a new mountain and b) visit a mountain that I'd been to before. The solution was to visit a low forest hill that I hadn't been to, and that was in the neighbourhood. The road from Brusdal across Brusdalshjellane was barely open. There was still soft snow on the highest point on the road, but I managed to drive all the way to the trailhead. The dog and I headed out 17:55PM and reached the trig. point 18:30PM. The reason for the slow pace was a VERY uninspired dog who didn't fancy the wet trail or the soft snow. I headed almost 200m westbound in order to find a clear high point, but I didn't. All I know is that the ridge is higher than the 252m trig. point. The dog had a far quicker pace on the way down, and we were back at the trailhead 19:05PM.
