Rasletinden is known as one of the easiest skiing tops amongst the 2000 meter peaks in Jotunheimen. Every year - hundreds (if not thousands) ski or hike this top, which belongs to the eastern Jotunheimen mountain range and is one of the southernmost of the 2000m peaks.
Rasletinden, together with Munken, Mugna, Leirungskampen and the Kalvehøgde tops are the 2000m peaks on the ridge north of Lake Bygdin and south of Leirungsdalen valley. If you have an optimistic view towards the definition of a peak, you can return with 8-9 2000m tops after exploring this ridge. If you go after the 100m primary factor definition, only two peaks satisfy the criterion; Vestre Kalvehøgde and Rasletinden.
Øystre (Austre) Rasletinden is a hump located 1,2km east of Rasletinden. This peak belongs to 3 municipalities; Øystre Slidre, Vang and Vågå. The main Rasletinden is shared between Vang and Vågå. The Jotunheimen National Park border runs across both summits.
The starting point is Valdreflya (closed in winter). There are two normal routes; a) via Steindalen and b) via the east/northeast ridge. Both routes are easy and many choose a round trip. This page describes the route via Steindalen.
Rasletinden (Norge 1:50,000: 2105m, Økonomisk Kartverk: -, UTM 32 V 483943 6806839) has a primary factor of 115m towards the higher parent Mugna (2159m). The defining saddle (approx. 32 V 483052 6806244) is found between Rasletinden and point 2088m. Ref. Norge 1:50,000 (20m contours), the saddle is within the range 1980-2000m, interpolated to 1990m.
Øystre Rasletinden (Norge 1:50,000: 2010m, Økonomisk Kartverk: -, UTM 32 V 485132 6807195) has a primary factor of 35m towards the higher parent Rasletinden. The defining saddle (approx. 32 V 484746 6807118) is found between the two peaks. Ref. Norge 1:50,000 (20m contours), the saddle is within the range 1960-1980m, which normally would have been interpolated to 1970m, but as the contours are quite close (40 meters), the saddle is interpolated to 1975m.
