Being on-duty call, and expecting shitty weather this Saturday morning, I had no plans of getting up very early. But 07:30AM, a friend called from Nevada. On his way to a 3633m mountain the next day, having run out of Topzone print-outs, and in need for the final directions to the summit. Once up, I took a look out the window. The white and sunny mountains above Haram didn't quite match the weather forecast, but I knew this was TOO GOOD to be true. So I decided to do some work from home instead of hitting the mountains. I wasn't at liberty to go very far, anyway.

Two hours later, the Haram mountains could no longer be seen, and it was pouring down. The rain lasted for several hours before taking a pause. I decided to walk the dog and felt for heading up to Ørskogfjellet. But I realized I would have to carry the dog in the snow, and that isn't really "walking the dog", is it?

So the choice fell on Nesnakken, one of the few, low forest hills that I had on my list of tops. I drove to Stette, turned right onto the road at Nes and drove until I saw a guy outside his house. I pulled up and asked him for directions to Nesnakken. There was a tractor road, and it was actually starting right where we stood.

The guy enjoyed mountains, and we had a good long chat, until Troll's (the dog) howling became unbearable. He invited me to park next to his house, and the dog and I headed upwards 14:55PM. Troll was kind enough to walk the whole distance, and we reached the high point 15:25PM, after stopping by the mast for pictures. We took the same route back down, reached the car 15:40PM, and drove out to Nes for sightseeing.

On our way home - just as I pulled the car out on the main road, a white-tailed eagle passed just a FEW meters above my car. As I was on the middle of the road, I couldn't stop right away. I pulled out on the next turnout and got a distant shot of the mighty bird. I wondered if it was the same eagle I photographed on Grøtshornet earlier this year. This eagle was however much closer than the one on Grøtshornet. But the closest "encounter" was when a white-tailed eagle came gliding in across my front yard, 10m above the ground, making a "short-cut" on its way to the city. I was in the doorway, but even if I had a camera in my hands, there wouldn't have been time to raise it, before the bird was gone. I really should have a video camera, sized a small headlamp, permanently strapped to my head, permanently recording, and I would be able to capture MOMENTS like that. The only thing is - it would probably look a bit weird...
