Access:
From Bergen centre, follow highway 556 south towards Flesland
(Fjøsangerveien). Not too far after the Danmarksplass
junction, and just before roundabout #2 after Danmarksplass,
exit right onto Grønnestølsveien road.
Follow this road upwards. When you have a large, old, yellow/
orange building on your left, immediately turn left after the
building and then turn right. Follow Grønnestølsveien
as far as it takes you. When you see hiking sign towards Løvstakken,
find a place to park.
Notes:
Following this route in winter could be difficult, but
the mountain is frequently visited, so there is a good
chance that the trail is already broken.

The trail:
The trail begins by a small stream. The trail runs on
the right-hand side of this stream up through the forest.
Not too long after you've started, you pass the ruins
of an old cabin.
Further up the forest, you cross the stream and enter
dense forest. Here lie the ruins of an old stone fence,
or something like it. The trail heads straight into the
forest and joins the north-south trail that runs on the
ridge between Gullsteinen and Løvstakken.
Make mental notes of the surrounding area, because it is
very easy to miss this junction on your way back.
Once on the ridge, you see the summit block of Løvstakken.
It looks steep, but the trail is quite safe. The ridge trail
dives briefly into the forest before you find yourself
at the bottom of terrain of intermediate difficulty. To
support you, there handrails up to the next level. There
are probably several ways to get around this, but I have
always followed the rails.
Next, the trail climbs to the plateau below the summit.
From here, you see the two summit masts. The trail runs up
to your right and to the summit plateau.
