It was snowing heavily this Sunday, and going for a longer drive did not even cross my mind. I had a feeling that this winter's budget for keeping the roads snow-free had already already spent. And I felt for going for a walk where I didn't have to carry the dog. As it started to clear up, the choice fell on Liatårnet. Perhaps I could get some good pictures of the Bergen mountains.
We left the trailhead 13:35PM, and one could sense that more clothes would be better than less. There was a certain chill factor already at the trailhead. I could only imagine how it was on this summit. There's nothing stopping the Atlantic winds from sweeping across this island. I met a couple that had been on the top during the snowstorm. The winds were "insane", as they put it. As this is a popular hike, then there is a good chance that a dog has recently been up here. The couple I spoke to had a dachshund, and this time I didn't have to worry about Troll sitting down in protest. He took the lead, busy with tracking the other dog all the way to the top.
We reached the summit one hour later. Just like the last time I was up here, it was impossible to keep the camera steady. Troll had his lunchbox, which he had to chase around on the summit as the wind kept moving it. This is truly a great viewpoint. I made a note to come back on a warm summer day, relax a bit, and let the views sink in. Now, the both of us were just eager to get off the mountain. A fun episode occured down by lake Tårnvatnet when Troll were manoeuvering across the rocks in the lake. He began a short jump, recalled in the middle of the jump, and was left standing with front paws on one rock and back paws on another. His belly and .... touched the cold water. He had "Dear Sir, please help" written all over his face. "What would you have done without me?", I retorically asked. I believe "Grrr" was his reply.
