Introduction

The mountain plateau west of Berdalsbandet offers a fantastic terrain for easy spring skiing - when the road between Øvre Årdal and Sognefjellet is open. The terrain is excellent for skiing with the family and you do not have to cross any steep or exposed slopes.

The first top - Lovardalsnosi - is located only 0,6km west of the road. Here, you can rig yourself up for great comfort in the sunshine and enjoy a fantastic view towards Hurrungane's western group of peaks - or continue towards Korenosi - a 2km ski trip to the southwest.

From Korenosi, you can proceed north to Hestdalsfjellet and then east to Middagshaugen before setting the course back to Berdalsbandet. If you're looking for a longer trip, consider visiting Larsokfjellet and Nobbafjelli - located closer to Lustrafjorden.

Lovardalsnosi and Korenosi are located in Årdal municipality while Middagshaugen belongs to Luster. Hestdalsfjellet (only mentioned and not described any further on this page) is located on the municipality border.

The round trip route is quite obvious and doesn't really need a whole lot of explaining. The pitch up to Lovardalsnosi is 0,6-0,7km. The next leg to Korenosi is roughly 2km. Hopefully, you will find a snow bridge that takes you safely across the river from Hestdalsvatnet.

Middagshaugen is a 3km trip from Korenosi. The final leg to Berdalsbandet is approx. 2,4km.
