It was one of those mornings when you really, really don't want to step outside. And if it hadn't been for the fact that I've promised myself to visit (at least) 100 new mountain tops per year, I would probably have stayed indoors as well...

I decided to go to Stadlandet and visit a couple of lower tops that I had been saving up for a rainy day. Be sure, this was such a day.

At Sandvika (on Stadlandet), I caught a glimpse of a large deer on my left-hand side, while I was driving.. eh .. in accordance with the speed limit. 100 meters down the road, I tried to analyze the captured image I had in my head. It was a fine deer, no doubt. But wasn't it very close to the road? And didn't it look rather ... calm? And ... moreover ... didn't I see a fence? A large fence? And more deers? I needed answers to all these questions, and I put the car in reverse. Sure enough - all of the above was true. I made a mental note to do a net search for deer farms on Stadlandet when I returned home...

When I arrived on top of the pass between Drage and Hoddevika, snow covered the road and the mountain tops were hidden in fog. But just like a wave from a magic wand, it stopped snowing and the fog lifted. Hallelu...!!

I decided to visit Furehornet first, then Elvehornet. I didn't see any path, which I found odd. After many trips to Stadlandet, my impression is that there are paths EVERYWHERE!

Near the Elvehornet - Furehornet saddle, I joined a path but I didn't understand where it came from. Then I followed it up to Furehornet which I reached 12:37pm - 30 minutes after heading out. As I didn't know the south side of Stadlandet too well, it was nice to be up here and study interesting rocks, cliff and ... cool places.

The weather was still holding up, and I sat course for Elvehornet - Vidanakken - whatever the official name is. A path led me nicely me up along the edge and I reached the top 1:10pm. There wasn't much to see that I hadn't already seen from Furehornet, but I noted that the view towards Skreiatua was especially nice...

I took the shortest route possible back to the car and I was quite happy about having visited two new tops in 1h:20m. As the time was only 1:23pm, I reckoned it was a bit early to head home and sat course for Geitahornet (474m) south of Leikanger.
